  • 1 peeled banana, very ripe for best sweetness
  • 1 cup flake cereal (bran flakes, corn flakes, or similar)
  • scant 2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 cup milk of choice (dairy or plant-based)
  • tiny pinch of salt
  • 3/4 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • sweetener of choice, to taste (maple syrup, honey, agave, or sugar)
  • optional toppings: peanut butter, chocolate chips, chopped walnuts, shredded coconut, fresh fruit, etc.

Place all ingredients in a blender and process until smooth and well combined. Taste and adjust sweetness if needed. Pour into a bowl and garnish with any optional toppings you like. The mixture thickens if refrigerated for at least 10 minutes; in warm weather try using a frozen banana for a creamier, chilled texture.
